I started day trading SPY options for the past month. Buying atm calls or puts, no sells. I open the trade after the first 30-45 minutes after the open. I do not hold the trade overnight, closing it when my target or sl is hit the same day. Normally, it would make more sense to choose same-day expiry dates.

Opex days have mostly closed in favor of bulls. In the last 30 minutes of opex days, look for dips and buy calls - or a strangle - $1 OTM. Look to buy those calls when they’re about .07 or so. Low cost, but they have high gamma. Spy has crazy EOD swings on opex days - so strangles work well.
