The customer orders a delivery through door dash right outside the restraunt and puts a $0 tip so no actual drivers will pick up the order too quickly. When the order is ready, they either pose as a driver or pose as a self pick-up to get their food. They’ll put “leave at door: ring bell”, but then try to intercept the driver as they get out of their vehicle hoping to keep them from taking a picture. They want the driver to hit “handed to customer” so they can call DD and say: “Nobody handed me nothing! I told them to leave at the door and ring the bell!!”. DoorDash knows customers scam but, it’s little that can be done. Most scammers low/non tip. So must drivers use that to stay away from them. Some will actually tip more to not appear scammy too! All we can do is as much as possible to protect ourselves but, DoorDash knows most the claims are false against us.If the customer calls the driver, the customer's number is masked and shows up as DoorDash on the caller ID for the driver. That's a key element of the scam. People like you assume that the call must be coming from DD since it says DD on the caller ID. That's not the case. I am not saying that the DoorDash corporation is in on the scam. Possible Walgreens scam glitch/bug. The DoorDash red card wasn’t working for a bunch of us at Walgreens (5 dashers)!
