It's not the batteries they are new on both key fobs, according to an auto-electrician it is a faulty key receiver module in the car or a faulty connection somewhere. Sometimes the information panel says "Keys not inside the car" randomly. Apparently there are 2 or 3 of those antennas/ receivers in the car but the auto electrician could not ...So I'm vacationing and of course our car doesn't want to start on our 2014 Ford focus car rental. We need a good diagnostic tool to test, proceed, and program. Likely after the repairs, key programming will also be needed. That requires 2 keys. Try a reset by removing the battery cables and hold the cable ends together for one minute, then 30 minutes later reconnect to the battery and try to start.
