Really when you do DPF delete, your really need 3 pieces: the downpipe, the straight or cat pipe and the straight or resonator. Then you can plug right into the stock exhaust and muffler. The improvement from Stage 2 tunes comes from the exhaust change. Stage 2 (IIRC) disables the regen process if you get the emissions delete. No regens mean less fuel wasted, and there are a lot less restrictions so the setup breaths better as well. And re: the old Jetta's getting better MPG, those were running 90~100 HP and 149~155 TQ.
