KOTOR 1. It makes more sense in light of Kotor 2's world and atmosphere. A Republic on the brink of collapse, Jedi nearly extinct, the Sith running loose, etc. all fit perfectly with the DS ending of Kotor 1. Kotor is non canon and its events have already been contradicted within canon. If the kotor series will get anything, it will be a reboot to have it align with canon. It's already been stated in this post, but the closest thing you're going to get to kotor 3 is Swtor. SWTOR is KOTOR3.
