We had 1780 12/23 that we used for beans only for quite a while and it did a fine job, for the money that they are asking for them I think it would be a good move for a bean only planter. 1780 planter questions. Thinking of buying a 2000 JD 1780 12/23 conservation planter. It has 3bu hoppers and row mounted coulters, shaft drive, HD springs, 2 vaccum pumps. The current owner has only planted soys with it.

If you are using the Kinze 16 row to plant corn and the Deere 1780 to plant beans - You should switch. Take 15 rows off the Deere and plant corn with it. Put interplants on the Kinze and do beans with the Kinze. Have heard a 1790 with the interplants off is a much better planter.

The 1770 has a better lifting system than the 7200 series . The 7200 the cylinders will get out of phase. We have had 12 row 7200, then 16 row 7200 and now 1770nt - 16 row with es sets.
