The first thing the author of a true-crime book is supposed to do is to take a set of messy and sometimes discordant facts and weave them into a coherent, meaningful, and (we hope) engaging story. In The Waltham Murders, Susan Clare Zalkind has singularly failed to do this - and as a result, the book is a complete waste of time for the reader.
