The Waterskin is an item that allows the player to carry drinking water. The Waterskin must be filled at a water source and has 4 "charges", each of which will refill the player's thirst meter by 25%. Each time the waterskin is used to drink water it will lose 2 durability.

Good news: he won't drop dead. The bad news, despite being near water, you have to supply all his water needs, otherwise he will leave. There are a couple of approaches you can take. I always build the woodcutter and workshop before bringing anyone in. I make a bunch of planks at the woodcutter and then create a few buckets at the workshop.
