I expect most gas stations will have more than enough for even a multi-month playthrough in singleplayer, and as others mentioned here there's going to be sandbox options if you want to adjust it or to help keep a multiplayer server stable. Its not that bad once you do the work to clear them out, im my last game the gas station spawned as a survivor shelter, all windows and doors partially barricaded. Had a bunch of weapons in the back room and all the normal loot in the main room and apartment. Made a damn good base.
