previously been able to cook apples pears mushrooms etc all in the pot on the fire & stove - but recently been unable to do so without burning all items in pot - still works by placing food item on stick and holding at fire, mushrooms until cooked seem to give only hydration.

Having the pot and cooking stove setup is a huge advantage. You can cook anywhere with no smoke or light. You can only bake meats but it's a fair tradeoff for the stealth factor. Also, even when setup with the stove and gas cylinder it still only takes up 12 slots and it holds 12 slots .
