Prior to that they generally followed the tractor number as in the Super C. I know that on my Super C the engine serial number is 5 numbers short of the tractor number if the tractor number started at 1 (which it didn't).I kinda like the wide front on a bigger tractor like an M or my John Deere G sometimes like plowing or fitting down plowed ground but on a smaller lighter tractor like an H I gotta believe it would make a nice handling, easy to drive, marginally powered tractor into a clumsey, galwky thing needing 2 acres to turn around in.

The cub centers take a 1/2 carriage bolt. The A-140 takes 5/8 carriage for the weights. So if you put the A-140 weight on the cub you are using 1/2 bolts, which probably are ok, but the engineers at IH were more comfortable with 5/8. The early 400's and the late Super M's were same but later 400's used dipsticks and had a smaller 1 inch diamiter wist pin just like the 450's, and the H and early (I'm thinking) Super H are similar but later Super H's and 300's, and 350's are different.
