Goodyear told me it was due to a bad upper control arm and tires. So they replaced the tires and control arm for $1100 and it didn’t fix the shudder. The power steering pump went the next week (which I’m sure wasn’t related but was another ... I have a similar issue on a 2012 Denali FWD w/ 113k miles (bought it new, and have done all the recommend maintenance). It will sporadically shudder when accelerating uphill or exiting a roundabout or curve. Dealer said it was the engine mounts. Which made sense, maybe the engine was unbalanced during tight turns and uphill.

I don't think it is a transmission issue as the transmission will shift with no affect on the shudder. this issue started when I had about 97000 miles and has gotten worse. I've read that it could be the transmission, could be the front line drive bolts. We had the transmission fluid flushed/changed recently. It is still dark.

My independent mechanic said there was a Tech Bulletin that said change the fluid. $64 later and a fluid change and the problem was solved.When driving around 60mph there is a shake that can be felt in the steering wheel. The reason your GMC Acadia shakes at idle but smooths out when accelerating is that the engine is spinning faster, which smooths out any misfires. If a motor mount is causing the problem, once you put the vehicle into gear, the torque from the engine will hold it against the frame. It can be very jarring when your GMC Acadia shakes when idle.

I would recommend attempting to add an anti-shudder additive to see if this helps the issue. This will be a "last ditch" effort to avoid a costly torque converter replacement.
