Firstly, Twilightmenu is NOT an emulator it simply makes it possible for ds games to run from the sd card. In my experience it works almost flawlessly with the games I've tested. As for heartgold it may just be how the game runs. I've played platinum and i guess gen 4 is just really "slow" compared to other games. 15.

So, what finally worked for me was simply leaving the TwlBg.cxi file in /luma/sysmodules folder without renaming it, and deleting the /_nds/TWiLightMenu/TwlBg folder altogether.
