Oct 19, 2021 · I have 2011 Xterra Pro-4x manual and I have the Brake, ABS, VDC-Off and Slip lights on. When i start the car all lights off. Get over 10 mph and boom they come on. I've tried resetting angle alignment with obdll and the turn off car restart no lights drive 10 mph boom there back again. I've had no issues till it rain really hard the other day. On start this AM the VDC and REAR DIFF lights illuminate. If I hit the rear diff switch the REAR DIFF light goes out and then ABS and SLIP come on. I can hear the 4wd engage both high and low when I turn it on with my door open.

The result was a bad crank position sensor!! It's a $25 part and was replaced within 1.5 hours!! No more stalling or lights on my dash!

SOURCE: My brake, slip and VDC indicators stay on. Check brake fluid level, add fluid from sealed container if needed. Also check for leaking rear axle seals. Look for oil on the inside of rear wheels. Easily done - on a level pavement, drive forward perfectly straight for about 150 ft at 15 mph.

VDC is Vehicle Dynamic Control. It applies the brake to a spinning tire in order to arrest a slide on a slick surface, such as wet concrete or ice. It's not supposed to be used off-road. After taking the clock spring out a few times and studying the issue, I noticed that the steering wheel/the alignment was off-center. If you read about the VDC, you will find that it is integral to the angle sensor. After much research and thought, I decided to ask the dealer to align (front toe) the Armada and then reset the VDC/Slip light.
