It completely replaces the rear sight which keeps nice and low to the bore line. This mount requires an adapter plate to use the RMR sight but it is very thin. I have a Weigand mount on my GP 100 and my .44 mag SBH. Nice light compact mount. Uses the sight screw and you have to D&T 2 6X48 holes in the top strap. Pretty easy to do if you have a drill press.
