Jul 30, 2006 · I usually keep it in place because my wife likes it to board the boat also. Along the edge of the dock I have a series of small fenders. These allow me to back the boat up so the swim platform is tight against the dock. I just leave the boat in reverse at idle and she stays there nice and snug. I am curious about the necessity of the keel drive. I see that you guys love it. But my real question is, besides the prop protection, which doesn't really matter to me.
