There are more good films in the franchise than bad. Logan, DOFP, First Class and X2 are some of the best in the Genre. The Deadpool movies were great. X1 and The wolverine are pretty good. This season is really odd. The animation style changed, for one. More jarring I think is that it is a series of bottle episodes, most of which only have two or three of the main cast in them. Season four ended with a four-episode ark tying all the plot points together, and then they tack on this extra season of inconsequential episodes.

New X-Men has the better concepts and peaks to me ( the Cassandra storyline is the best out of the two runs). Astonishing X-Men is more consistent and the easier reread. I give the edge to Astonishing only due to accessibility(for myself). I love the material in New X-Men more- I just don't think it reads as smoothly as Astonishing.
