In a 45cal you can shoot nearly anything a 50cal can shoot and shoot many of them better such as a 40cal bullet. 50x40 sabots wont hold a candle to a 45x40 sabot in a high performance load. The new CVA 45s are a 1-22 twist which is a massive improvement over a 1-28 if you want to shoot higher BC 40cals.Lil-Rokslider. The best combo I've found in my CVA Accura V2 is 250 grain Hornady SSTs (45 cal bullet, 50 cal sabot) with 2 triple 7 magnum pellets (60 grains each). It's very accurate and effective so far. I've killed a bull elk and two mule deer bucks with the combo.First, I would stick with loose Pyrodex over pellets. But lower the powder charge- 120 grains is a pretty heavy load and actually more than CVA recommends. Have him try 80 - 90 grains Pyro with the 275 Powerbelt.
